Our Story
We’re all familiar with that midnight waddle to the bathroom: that imminent feeling of the dreaded gush, then the rush to get a new tampon, only to find that there are no more plastic applicator style tampons, and all that remains is that dusty box of applicator free tampons from years ago. One night, as I found myself in this position, I frantically thought to myself about what to do next! In my midnight haze, I became quite innovative, and tried to clean a used plastic applicator that I found in the trash can, and insert a new applicator free tampon into it.
Unfortunately, that plan was a major failure, but, looking at my full trash can of single use plastic that was when inspiration struck, and I thought to myself, “wow, the waste from all these disposable tampon applicators is alarming.”
My midnight experience drove my curiosity about menstrual product waste: I dove deep into the internet and was shocked by the amount of waste and carelessness around single use disposable tampon applicators.
With every shocking statistic I learned, I realized that we can do better than this, and decided to take matters into my own hands. Eventually the Every Cycle reusable tampon applicator was born, after months of research and prototyping.
Along with a reusable tampon applicator, it was equally as important to me to create a brand that felt like a best friend, a community where women could connect and relate to one another through shared experiences.
Every Cycle's goal is to combat the waste caused by period products. As part of the Every Cycle community, you will hear other women's stories and be invited to share your own and to connect with women around the world.
